I customize all my lesson plans to suit the individual and their unique musical goals.  I integrate my 17 years of guitar playing with innovative Positive Psychology research and strategies to optimize creativity, engagement, and learning.

Why learn a bunch of old standards or Twinkle Twinkle songs if you never intend on playing them in the future?   I design specialized lesson plasn that will keep you motivated and loving the guitar.

I’ve been playing on and off for over 25 years now with the last couple of years spent rediscovering the instrument via intense writing sessions and practice. I was always self-taught/played by ear and while that approach allowed me to become a very good guitarist and song-smith, I have yet to become a GREAT guitarist because I never even took the time to learn the basics like common chords and scales.

As such, I’m not able to improv jam as well as most people since when someone calls out a chord or key, I have no idea where that is.

When I came to Jeff I had explicit instructions regarding areas of improvement and what I wanted to focus on. I did not want to start from the beginning, but I did want to unlock all of the secrets of the fretboard. Jeff allowed me to continually interrupt him as he talked through the basics of scales, modes and intervals, asking questions and delving deeper into areas of particular interest to me. He certainly knows his way around the guitar neck and needed no reference materials whatsoever in our first two-hour session.

I plan to continue working with Jeff as I’m very happy with the way he is willing to modify standard cirriculum to meet my needs instead of forcing a generic agenda on me.
